Mallorca or Majorca is an island in the Mediterranean off the coast of Spain, a historic focus of decorative wrought iron. Mallorca was known for finer, more delicate ironwork.  

In the medieval period, craftsmen used the techniques they had developed in forging weapons to make decorative items. You can see examples in historic New Orleans, Spain and other European lighting, balconies, railings and gates.
