The less expensive, but easier to find blown glass fruit that is made to be Christmas tree ornaments often have a hole and a little metal fitting to create the loop.
I've seen fruit crystal chandeliers with apples and pears mixed in with clear or colored crystals. The one above even has eggplants! In the description they often call the arms branches.
